I attended four herbal schools from 1997 - 2006, finishing with Michael Moore's final live teaching year in Bisbee Arizona, along the same time I attended community college for the biology, chemistry and anatomy related sciences. I wrote and taught 350 hours of herbal medicine and nutrition at Healing Hands School of Holistic Health for 18 years, retiring in 2023. I'm the primary educator of Sage Country Herbal Field Apprenticeship for 11 years as well as the 2 year online program. I've been teaching at herbal conferences around the west coast for the last 11 years and I’ve written a botany column for the Plant Healer Magazine for the past 10 years. My clinical practice has been maintained for the last 22 years.

Sage Country Herbs offers several exceptional avenues for immersive herbal study. We have a 2-year hybrid live and online program in North County San Diego. We also offer a live 2-year field botany, ethical wildcrafting, and ecology apprenticeship. We study local ecologies, create relationships with local farmers, and learn the value of community connections in the plant world and human world. Shana serves as the primary educator for the majority of courses and workshops, supplemented by expert guest teachers to enrich the educational experience. Shana has a clinical practice, is a medicine maker and community organizer. Sage Country Herbs hosts two annual festivals open to the public to celebrate the abundance of the herbal and farming communities. We encourage community participation and exploration in all our offerings and strive to be a platform that supports our local community. Our philosophy revolves around ethics and integrity in our connections to nature and plants, herbal medicine, and in supporting our local communities. Instruction is rooted in the Western herbal tradition, heavily influenced by Michael Moore' constitutional physiology of excess and deficiency, as well as an awareness and deep respect for the indigenous tribes of the Southwest.
